陈融，“西外学者”特聘教授，美国加利福尼亚州立大学教授。1979年毕业于西安外国语学院，1981-1982年赴英国Lancaster大学进修. 1985年赴美国博尔大学学习, 先后获硕士、博士学位。陈融博士1990-1992年在美国密苏里峡谷学院任教,1992年开始执教于美国加利福尼亚州立大学，1992年开始执教于美国加州州立大学圣贝纳迪诺分校，曾任该校副校长、英语系与会计金融系主任、西安外国语大学-美国加州州立大学圣贝纳迪诺分校项目主任, 北京大学特邀专家.
陈融博士从事语言学研究三十多年来, 先后发表五十多篇学术论文,出版专著两部, 译著, 编著, 及教材五部. 这些论著见于世界十四种杂志及出版社, 涉及音韵学、句法学、语义学、语用学、文体学、修辞学、历史语言学、社会语言学、认知语言学等学科。在这些研究领域中, 他犹以语用学及认知语言学见长。在语用学方面, 他八十年代在国内发表的数篇论文颇有影响, 被反复收集出版；在国外, 他的关于礼貌语言的论著被广为引用。在认知语言学研究方面,其关于英语倒装句式的专著被收集到国际认知语言学协会最有声望的《认知语言研究丛书》。他的所有著述被国际国内同行引用总数大致在八百次。
陈融博士曾任国际认知语言协会理事, 现任该协会会员委员会委员. 他是《认知语义学》杂志的副主编及数家杂志的编委, 并为国际上十多家杂志及出版社审稿, 被国际国内学术会议邀请作主题发言.
